Detailed Description
This 24″ x 36″ print was created for Dead & Co.’s 6th and final weekend of their 2025 residency at Sphere, covering the May 15, 16, and 17 shows. For this poster, I carved a woodblock to get the linework and then digitally drew the color separations for the final screen printed version. Show edition of 437, signed AP edition of 45.
When I was asked to create a poster for Dead & Co., I knew right away I wanted to carve my own take on the Terrapins. A huge influence on the animal characters in my work is Heinrich Kley, who originally drew the jamming turtles that inspired the Terrapin Station album art. I thought a classic fishing bobber, with its half-and-half color split, would be a natural fit for the “Steal Your Face” logo, and imagined the turtles fishing, with the bobber making a “ripple in still water.” I originally pictured a lily pond, but it didn’t make much sense for Vegas, so I shifted the scene to a dried-up wash in the Nevada desert, with Terrapin Station sitting high up on a hill in the distance. It all came together as a little nod to some of my favorite Dead tunes with outlaw themes like “Me and My Uncle” and “Friend of the Devil.”
